Gracious words are a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24

| Can you see the Queen? |
Some of you have asked to get to know me a little bit more.
So I thought I would include you into an activity I did with one of my sons this week.
William is a beekeeper and has 5 hives.
This is the time of the year to extract the honey, so in a pictorial blog post, here is the activity of the day.
This is the Hive from which we took two boxes off.
In total we had three boxes to extract honey from. Inside each box are frames in which the bees store the honey.
This is William with a heated knife which cuts off the outer layer of wax capping that the Bees have placed over the honey cells.
Hmm, look at all that lovely honey!
I am placing the uncapped frame into the extractor
The extractor had two frames in it at a time and then the handle was turned and the frames were spun around inside and drum and the honey was flung out to the sides, ran down, filtered and was collected in the base.
The frames were then returned to the hive to cleaned up by the bees and repacked with more honey!
Isn't that beautiful!
40 kg's (88 lb's) of Honey potted up.
Now where is Pooh Bear!
